THE SCRATCH-IT! MAD CAT PLATE SET – MY HIGHLY ACCURATE HOMAGE TO PRINCE’S ICON

I’m delighted to offer my Mad Cat plates which replicate the original 1970s H.S. Anderson masterpieces as closely as humanely possible to replace your standard factory-fit shockers so you can finally give your Mad Cat that authentic Prince vibe

TRANSLUCENT
Suitable for all models

Features my hi-res printed multi-toned mono image with a translucent yellowy-tobacco background as per the original issue plates, so when mounted the plates allow the background to show through & give a subtle tobacco colour cast, which is about the only tobacco good for you, & replicates the H.S. Anderson originals to give the iconic Prince look. Naturally if your body has nasty holes in, try the:

OPAQUE
Ideal for any models with large pickup routs &/or a diagonal cable channel connecting controls & neck pickup including older Harley Benton TE-80 models

Features my hi-res printed multi-toned mono image with an opaque beige background to replicate the colour of the wood of your guitar, which neatly covers large pickup routs, an unsightly cable channel along with holes in your body. Ooh.

Essentially the same master leopard pattern is used for both translucent & opaque plates –  it’s only the background that is different – & so we’re all clear my plate artwork was created in-house by me, myself & I by replicating an original celluloid plate kindly loaned to me & is produced by bonding hi-res full-colour printed exterior grade vinyl to the rear of clear shatterproof acrylic – so the image is protected from scratching – & then laser cut to fit your particular model.

STANDARD BRIDGE
Gently rounded bridge plate to fit the original screw mount holes

PRINCE BRIDGE
Full-blown original style plate to replicate the original H.S. Anderson icon as closely as possible but will hide the original screw mount holes

Many manufacturers supply OEM bridge plates which are horrifically angular & don’t fit the vibe in the slightest, so my bridge plates are always curved to pay homage to the original style whilst using the original screw mount holes – so are a straight swap – but I also offer versions that give the closest possible match to the curved original too, which may require new screw mount holes but will hide the original holes. Kiss.

MODELS
Frustratingly there are many many many flavours of Teles that sport Mad Cat plates – including various editions of H.S. Anderson, Hohner & Harley Benton along with custom manufacturers – which are all subtly different so plates are generally not interchangeable between marques – but don’t let that worry you as I have a huge range of templates on file & ultimately can cut plates to fit ANY shape.

In which case I’ll need scans of your original plates please Emailed to me at hello@gig.ink – simply scan as hi-res 300dpi colour/greyscale photographs with the BACK of the plates touching the glass please – don’t worry, I’ll digitally flip the images – along with a contrasting coloured piece of paper between plate & scanner lid so all the edges are nicely visible in the end result, saved as a JPEG, & let me know in the ORDER NOTES section that you’re Emailing me a scan of your plates. If you don’t have a scanner yourself then perhaps friends/family/colleagues could help or a couple of ££ well spent is to ask a local printers to scan & Email to me – or even pop your original plates in the post to me & I’ll match them, naturally returning them with your new set.
